this interview does not make sense…

.

Natalie is a Czech girl, aged 30, who works as a receptionist in a furniture store in Sydney’s Inner West.  She is tall, slim and attractive but her answers to the survey made little sense.  Read on…

“Have you been flashed?”

“No.”

“OK.  Let’s say you were flashed on your way home tonight…what do you think your reaction would be?”

“I don’t know.”

“Responses vary greatly,” I prompted.  “Some women laugh, some get angry, and so on.  How do you think you would react?”

“I don’t know.”

“Are you aware that exhibitionism is a criminal act?”

“Yes.”

“Do you think it should be?”

“Yes.  It should be.”

“Why?” I asked her.

“Because.”

That wasn’t much of an answer, so I asked her again – “Why?”

“It is not normal.”

I pointed out that there are many things that are “not normal”, but are not criminal.  She just shrugged.

I wanted to nail this down.  “Generally, criminal behaviour hurts other people.  Like mugging, rape, theft and so on.  Do you think exhibitionism hurts people?”

She said, “You don’t have to hurt someone for it to be criminal.”

At this point I gave up.  I thanked her and left.
